Not So Hot Take On A Quote By Ra
"For the undefined throat center, it is not simply a matter of not controlling when they can express themselves. Which voice they speak with is being conditioned by others. A maxim of Design Analysis is "Where you are, is Who you are". For the undefined throat, this maxim can save them a lot of grief. The most common advice given to people with undefined throats is to have their important conversations in public places. The public place where you can be private is a blessing not just for undefined throats but for split definitions of ANY kind." - Ra Uru Hu
Ooomff. Okay so I totally see and hear the logic behind this but this is tough. For one, not many people have the freedom in their day to day lives to escape to public places to have important, dare I say, uncomfortable or difficult conversations. Not only may people struggle with having the freedom to organize those conversations to be held in public places, but also the difficulty of keeping those conversations private in public places, not always a guarantee.
One of my favorite kinds of humor is the conversations I hear out of context, or hearing the context, but imagining how strange it would be to hear certain phrases out of context and if it would be funny. However, that's also something I think about when I'm talking to people on the phone in public too because I say a lot of stuff that is funny but out of context, it would sound really horrible lol or talking about something really vulnerable that if heard out of context could reap a lot of unwanted attention.
I've also been thinking lately about how certain statements are hilarious to say because they're fucked up, and certain statements aren't funny because they're fucked up just the same. I love some dark humor because of what terrible things people will say that are really funny to me, but I also see how easily those things would be really offensive out of context, and even within the context, it might even still be offensive lol
But yeah I'm often very careful about what conversations I have in public whether on the phone or in person, because I never know what might be said. I also have a thing about not getting the phone in the car with other people depending on what the call is about, nope, depending on the context, there's no tellin what will come up hahaha
I also have an issue with the concept of where you are being who you are, because I know there are many people, including myself, that would say that where I am is not who I am and a lot of people would say that where they are has resistance to who they are. And sometimes we need that resistance to who we are from where we are, sometimes that is helpful. I've also read Ra speak about being in the right place at right time with the 29-46, Discovery, and in regards to the open/undefined G he would mention caution about being in the wrong places with the wrong people at wrong time. In the past I've spoken about this and how I personally see that there is value to wherever you are, whatever people are around you at whatever time. The geometry & mechanics of the maia are so perfect that wherever, whatever company and whatever time we're in at some level is correct for us, or else we wouldn't be in it.
That said, it speaks also to our innate openness to conditioning, from anyone and even things in our environment, so that brings another layer to the experiment of having important conversations in public places, because if where you are IS who you are, then that has a direct influence on how you express yourself in a conversation. It also depends on your voice too. I know I can get kinda loud on the phone, sometimes, and I have a defined throat, but I've met undefined throats who talk louder and faster than me. So while I can see how it can be beneficial to have "important" conversations in public places, where you can be private, I can see how it can also be difficult too. And for some people, it can be really disempowering to be told that where they are is who they are. Just as much grief as it can save it could also be the cause of it for others as well. I've been recently reading The Book of Letters by Ra, and I've come across a lot of quotes that I disagree with that I think I want to write more small pieces like this about, do you guys dig it ? Let me know. I think i'll be doing this more often in the mean time in between times while I continue to work on bigger projects.
